About the Area
Visiting Filey, North Yorkshire Coast
See and Do near our Filey Holiday Home
There are extensive coastal and countryside walks and the area is ideal for those with dogs. Yorkshire is there for the exploring!
The Spirit Of Yorkshire Whisky distillery, Hunmanby
We have just discovered the whisky distillery in Hunmanby (2-3 miles away), if you're a whisky lover it's an absolute must! It has a great cafe and teashop as well. https://www.spiritofyorkshire.com/
Greenwich Cottage is also conveniently located for the tourist attractions of The Deep (Kingston Upon Hull), Flamingo-land theme-park and zoo (Pickering) and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (Pickering to Whitby) including the stop-off at Goathland, which doubled as Aidensfield in TV’s Heartbeat.
The resort towns of Scarborough and Bridlington are only a few miles away as is the seabird breeding ground of Bempton Cliffs and the lighthouses and hidden coves of Flamborough Head. Filey is on the edge of the hidden jewel that is the Yorkshire Wolds and the historic city of York, The North Yorkshire Moors and Whitby are all within an hour’s drive.
The traditional fishing village of Filey has a charm all of its own; its beach was voted Beach Of The Year by The Sunday Times in their 2018 Top 50 Beaches and the town has also recently won the Gold Britain In Bloom Award. In addition to the beach, promenade and Coble Landing there is a lively town centre, golf course, Pitch and Put, supermarket, pubs and restaurants.
